Trio’s lucky escape after explosion


Blast injures three … The block of flats where a mortar bomb exploded last week. Three Bloemfontein residents are fortunate to have survived a blast in their flat. Jaco van Rensburg (26) was seriously injured after the fuse of a mortar bomb exploded in his girlfriend’s flat in Brandwag, Bloemfontein. Van Rensburg, his girlfriend Erleen Redgard, and her brother Wayne were in the living room when the bomb exploded. Zuma praises Dube’s legacy


Grateful for recognition … President Jacob Zuma recognised the Dube family for their contribution to the struggle for freedom and democracy. President Jacob Zuma has praised the first president of the ruling party, John Langalibalele Dube, for his humility, poise, and academic prowess that helped him unite the ANC during the trying times of apartheid. Tatane family welcomes rubber bullet ban


Rubber bullets banned … Police have been banned from using rubber bullets during crowd control. The family of slain protester, Andries Tatane, has welcomed the proposed ban on police using rubber bullets during crowd control. Tatane died during a service delivery protest in Ficksburg in 2011. Footage of the event showed that he was shot with rubber bullets at close range. A group of police officers were arrested in connection with his death and will appear in court on murder charges again in April.
