Pacofs, Damelin join forces

Pacofs has signed a three-year contract with distance learning institution, Damelin College, to train sound engineers.

The agreement between the two institutions is a major coup that has only added to the credibility of Pacofs as a premier arts and cultural institution in the province.

Speaking to The Weekly, Damelin’s academic manager, Dr Karen Genade, said the agreement between the two institutions is mutually beneficial one.

“We saw that Pacofs has sound studios and our institution’s sound-training studios are being built, so I approached them.”

In terms of the agreement Damelin will use Pacofs’ studios and train Pacof’s own sound engineers to use the studio.

“In as much as the institutions will be teaming up, we will be helping each other academically, it’s a good business move,” said Genade.

Damelin’s marketer, Tumelo Pooe, added that joining forces with Pacofs is a step in the right direction for the college.

“Pacofs was amazing and approachable; they want to have a long term relationship and so do we.”

He also described the joint venture as opportunity for college students to gain valuable practical experience.

He urged young people to come to Pacofs and witness the amazing experience. Pacofs human resource manager, Rolihlahla Alexander, had this to say:

“When Damelin approached us we couldn’t resist the offer. We saw it as an opportunity to give our employees a chance to enhance their skills.

The whole idea is to change the myth that Pacofs is not productive, and to make it a learning institution, said Alexander. ”
