Hip-hop artists one step closer to Usher

Keep holding thumbs … Big Size and Mo Klaasic may just be performing alongside R‘n’B Usher.
Local talent Big Size and Mo Klaasic are one step closer to performing alongside R‘n’B Usher when he tours South Africa later
this year.
The two got the nod from the judges during the regional semi-finals of the competition held in Bloemfontein.
Only the best … Hip-hop group Teargas was amongst the panel of judges at the Hansa Legends semi-final.
The eventual winner will perform at the Hansa Festival of Legends in the Making Concert in Orlando, Soweto in March. Usher will be the headline act. Two artists per region have been selected to go through to the final.
Hip-hop artists Big Size and Mo Klaasic were among the five hopefuls who competed in the semi-final in the central region. The five performed in front of a panel of judges that included award-winning hip-hop group Teargas and Gallo Music’s head of media and promotion Thabiso Khati.
Born and raised in Bloemfontein, Big Size was influenced by the art of hip-hop from an early age.
It was his hit single Go Monate mo Blomo that earned him a spot in the finals. His Motswako (rap in vernacular) style of rap earned him respect in Bloemfontein and also from personalities such as Motswako, HHP, and Morafe.
Big Size and Mo Klaasic will come up against Gauteng’s Mo and The Dark Knights and The Muffinz, the Western Cape’s Busim and Nonku Phiri, the Eastern Cape’s H-2wegellus and Shoelace, the northern region’s Mapakshop and Shumi, and KwaZulu-Natal’s Abdus and Mlathi. From the final 12 artists, only six will go through to perform alongside an impressive list of South Africa’s top urban music stars to an estimated 35 000 strong crowd.
Fans will be able to vote for their favourite acts online during the first two weeks
of February.
