Mostert to join Australian outfit

SA netball gem … Free State’s Karla Mostert

Karla Mostert is set to play for Australian outfit Sunshine Coast after the player confirmed that she has accepted an offer to play for the outfit in 2017.

Mostert, who is currently captaining the University of the Free State (Kovsies) at the ongoing Varsity Netball competition in Stellenbosch, will be the first South African to ever ply her trade in the Australian league, which is ranked top in the world.

Karla has represented the National Protea Team in 53 Tests and was part of the Free State Crinums Team that has won the Brutal Fruit National Premier Netball League in 2016 – which was the provincial side’s third title in a row.

She has once again been drafted into the Proteas side that is set to compete in the Mostert is one of the many athletes that have enjoyed the support of the provincial department of sport, arts, culture and recreation as well as the Free State sports Science Institute (FSSSI) which has assisted her with her nutrition, conditioning, testing and coaching support amongst others.

She is part of the FSSSI Elite Athlete and Coaches Support Programme
She is currently with the Kovsies side in Stellenbosch where they are striving to secure their spot in the Varsity Netball competition playoffs which will take place on October 10.
