Dog ‘rape’ victim describes ordeal

A man who has accused a father and son of ordering their dog to attack and mount him has described his traumatic ordeal to Eyewitness News saying he doesn’t think he will ever be able to live a normal life again.

The victim’s employer and his teenage son appeared in the Welkom Magistrates Court on Wednesday on charges including attempted compelled rape.

Abraham Monwametsi, 57, claims to have suffered a series of violent attacks while working as a security guard at the family’s business.

Monwametsi said he returned to work despite the attacks because he needed to put food on his family’s table.

He said the attacks started early last month when he was working the night shift, after the teenager ordered the family boerboel to attack him.

Monwametsi said he told his father the next morning, thinking he would reprimand his son, but instead his employer threatened his life.

Despite the alleged mistreatment by his employer, Monwametsi said he was forced to continue working for the family because it was the first job he’d been given in years and he needed to support his relatives.
“I struggled for years to find a job, and all I was thinking about was my family and how much I needed the job so that I could provide for them.”

Monwametsi described how the teenager forcefully removed his belt and ordered the dog to attack. He said the boy then ordered him to go down on his knees.
Monwametsi opted not to attend court proceedings on Wednesday, for fear of reliving the trauma of the alleged attacks.

He added that he hoped he’d never have to face his alleged attackers again.

“I pray for God to help me because I don’t ever want to see these people. Because when I do all the horrible memories come flooding back.”
